Twenty named design styles, what each one looks like, and a copy-paste prompt for every one. Same wrapper every time. Swap in your word, generate, done.
You type "make a cool poster for my offer". The model gives you a purple gradient with a glowing orb. You try "make it more professional". You get a different purple gradient.
The model is not the problem. The brief is. Designers do not work from "cool". They work from names: Swiss, Art Deco, Pop art, Claymorphism. Each name carries a hundred decisions about grid, colour, type and texture. Say the name and the model makes those decisions for you.
Below are the twenty names worth knowing, what each one looks like, and the exact prompt that produces it. I used these prompts to generate the designs for my own content, so every one of them has been run, not just written.
The Wrapper That Keeps Every Prompt Clean
Every prompt in this guide is one sentence with one block swapped. Learn the shape once and you can write the twenty-first style yourself.
Three parts, always in this order.
- The frame line. It tells the model you want a finished poster, not a photo of a poster on a wall.
- The style block. One style, one or two sentences, the words a designer would use.
- The text line and the quality tail. The exact word you want on the image, spelled exactly like that, then a short quality instruction.

A finished portrait poster in 9:16 that fills the whole frame edge to edge: no mockup, no wall, no frame, no hands, no watermark. Print-quality graphic design, sharp, one clear focal point, well composed, not cluttered. [THE STYLE BLOCK: one style, described in one or two sentences, from the list below.] The only text on the poster is exactly "[YOUR WORD]", spelled exactly like that. The poster contains no other words. High resolution, crisp edges, professional work.
Keep the word short. One or two words render clean. A sentence inside the image still fails most of the time. Put the sentence in the caption.
What Is a Design Style Prompt?
A design style prompt names a known visual tradition instead of describing a feeling. "Swiss design" tells an image model to use a strict grid, bold flush-left type, one accent colour and a lot of white space, because those are the documented rules of that style. One name replaces a paragraph of adjectives, and the result is consistent from run to run.
Group One: Clean and structured
Grids, white space, one idea per frame. The styles that make a business look organised.
Swiss design
A strict grid, bold black type set flush left, one red shape, a lot of empty paper. Nothing decorative.

Which Style for Which Job
Pick by the job, not by taste.
| The job | Start with |
|---|---|
| A price list, a schedule, event details | Swiss design |
| One quote or one date | Minimalism |
| A founder or client portrait | Editorial |
| A software screen or a dashboard | Glassmorphism |
| A sale or a big offer | Pop art or Maximalism |
| A thank-you or a personal note | Handwritten |
| A premium event | Art Deco |
| A product launch | Futuristic or Y2K |
| A dramatic announcement | Cyberpunk |
| A friendly community post | Clay style |
Run the same word through two of them. Keep the one you would put on a wall.
Your First Real Run
Pick one offer you are posting this week. Take its two-word headline. Paste the Swiss prompt with that headline as the word. Generate. Then paste the Pop art prompt with the same word. Generate.
You now have the quiet version and the loud version of the same message. Post the one that matches the mood of the week. Done.
The Mistake That Makes It Fail
Two styles in one prompt. The model averages them and you get a design nobody asked for. Pick the dominant style, generate, and only then describe the second style as a small detail in a follow-up.
Four smaller ones cost almost as much:
- No text line. You get invented letters. The exact-text line is the fix, every time.
- Asking for a mockup. "Poster on a wall" gives you a wall. The frame line says edge to edge for a reason.
- Too many words in the image. One or two words. The sentence goes in the caption.
- A square frame for a vertical layout. Say 9:16 for stories and reels, 1:1 for the feed. The composition changes with the frame.
When the text comes out wrong, say: the word is misspelled, keep everything else and spell it exactly "[YOUR WORD]". That one correction fixes most runs.
Honest: Where These Prompts Break
Models differ on text. Nano Banana, Imagen and Ideogram spell short words reliably. Older models and most video models do not, and no prompt fixes that.
Real logos and real faces are off the table. The styles describe layouts and textures, not brands. If you need your actual logo on the design, generate the background with the prompt and place the logo yourself.
A reference image beats a description when you need something specific. If you already have a design you love, feed it as a reference and use the prompt for the words only.
And the prompts are tuned for a single poster. A carousel of five slides needs the same style block in every prompt plus a line that says it is slide two of five in the same series, or the slides drift.
Pick Three Tonight
If you only do one thing this week: pick three styles from the table, take one word that matters to your business, and run it through all three. Twenty minutes. If none of the three looks like something you would print, you lost twenty minutes and learned which half of this list is not for you.
