The Instagram Agent Skill for Claude runs 11 capabilities inside your content workflow from a single install: post writing, comment and reply handling, profile optimization, content planning, and a virality analysis skill. The virality skill is the one operators keep coming back to.
This guide covers how to install it and how to use the three most valuable parts of the skill: virality analysis, post generation, and weekly planning.
Most content creators make the same decision every week. Open a blank notes app. Think about what performed well last time. Try to replicate it from memory. Post it. Check the numbers three days later and adjust based on feel.
That process is slow, inconsistent, and disconnected from what is actually working in your niche right now.
The Instagram Agent Skill replaces that process with three evidence-driven loops. You give Claude the niche and the goal. The virality skill scans what is performing. The post writer turns those patterns into original scripts. The planner sequences it into a weekly content calendar.
The whole workflow runs inside Claude, not in a separate dashboard. No new subscriptions. No extra accounts.
What Is in the Skill
The install includes 11 tools. The ones covered in this guide:
| Skill | What it does |
|---|---|
| Virality Analyzer | Scans top-performing reels in your niche, extracts the patterns that made them work, turns those into original scripts |
| Post Writer | Writes captions, scripts, and hook variations from a brief |
| Comment Handler | Drafts replies to common comment types (questions, objections, DM prompts) |
| Profile Optimizer | Reviews your bio, link, and highlights and rewrites them for your target audience |
| Weekly Planner | Builds a 5-to-7-post content calendar from your niche, goal, and content format preferences |
The remaining tools cover hashtag research, story scripts, video hooks, engagement analysis, competitor mapping, and DM keyword routing. The guide PDF in the download link below has the full documentation for all 11.
Step One: Install the Skill Through Claude
What you need: Claude on the web or Claude Code in your terminal.
How to install:
Option A: Web or desktop Claude.
- Open the guide PDF from the download link below.
- Follow the setup section. It walks you through uploading the skill to Claude's Capabilities panel.
- Once uploaded, start a new chat. The skill is active for that session.
Option B: Claude Code in the terminal.
- Download the skill folder from the link below and unpack it.
- Move the folder to
~/.claude/skills/instagram-agent/. - Open Claude Code and say: "Use the Instagram Agent skill."
That is the install. The skill is available in any session after this.
What good looks like at this step: You start a new chat, type "Use the Instagram Agent skill," and Claude acknowledges the skill and asks for your niche and goal. If that happens, the install worked.
The mistake that makes this step fail: Installing via the web but starting the skill in a new session without the skill active. Web-based skill installs are session-specific by default. If the skill is not responding, re-upload through Capabilities and start the conversation in the same session.
Step Two: Run the Virality Analyzer
This is the skill that earns the install. Before you write a single post, run the virality analyzer to see what is actually performing in your niche right now.
What you need: Your niche (specific, not broad), your posting format (reel, carousel, or talking head), and the result you want from the content (leads, follows, profile visits, saves).
How to run it:
Copy this.
Use the virality skill. Analyze top-performing content in [YOUR NICHE]. Format: [REEL / CAROUSEL / TALKING HEAD] My goal with this content: [LEADS / FOLLOWERS / SAVES / PROFILE VISITS] My audience: [DESCRIBE WHO FOLLOWS OR SHOULD FOLLOW YOU]
Example:
Copy this.
Use the virality skill. Analyze top-performing content in the B2B operations consulting niche. Format: Reel (60 seconds or less) My goal: Leads — I want viewers to comment or DM asking about my service My audience: Founders and ops leads at companies with 10 to 50 employees
What good looks like at this step: The skill returns a list of patterns. Hook structures (the first 3 seconds), content formats (list vs. story vs. demonstration), CTA styles (comment keyword vs. link in bio vs. DM), and the emotional triggers that drove shares in your niche. Each pattern comes with a script template you can use directly.
The mistake that makes this step fail: Running the analysis on a niche that is too broad. "Business" or "marketing" will return patterns that fit thousands of different audiences. "B2B operations consulting for 10 to 50 person companies" will return patterns specific enough to use. The more specific your niche input, the more actionable the output.
Step Three: Generate Posts from the Patterns
Once you have the virality patterns from Step Two, the post writer uses them as the brief. You are not starting from a blank prompt. You are turning proven patterns into original content for your specific audience.
How to run it:
Copy this.
Use the post writer skill. Write [NUMBER] posts based on the virality patterns from the analysis. My content angle: [YOUR SPECIFIC TAKE OR EXPERTISE AREA] Keep the hook structure from: [THE SPECIFIC PATTERN YOU WANT TO USE] CTA type: [COMMENT KEYWORD / DM / LINK IN BIO] Keyword: [IF USING COMMENT KEYWORD — YOUR KEYWORD]
Example:
Copy this.
Use the post writer skill. Write 3 reels scripts based on the virality patterns from the analysis. My content angle: How I use AI agents to run client onboarding without hiring Keep the hook structure from: the "most people do X wrong" pattern CTA type: comment keyword Keyword: ONBOARD
What good looks like at this step: Three complete scripts with a hook, body, and CTA. Each one uses your angle, not a generic template. The hook matches the pattern you selected. The CTA is correctly formatted for a comment-trigger DM flow.
How many to generate: Run three to five scripts in one session. Use two to three of them. The ones you do not use this week still have value, your patterns shift slowly enough that scripts you do not post this week will be relevant next week.
The mistake that makes this step fail: Not specifying your content angle. The post writer can write using any angle if you do not specify one. Specify "how I use [YOUR METHOD] to [RESULT FOR AUDIENCE]" and the scripts will sound like you, not like a generic creator in your niche.
The Weekly Planning Loop
Once the install and virality workflow are running, the weekly planner takes 10 minutes to set up the week.
Run this at the start of each content week:
Copy this.
Use the weekly planner skill. Plan my content for this week. My posting goal: [NUMBER] posts across [FORMATS] My conversion goal this week: [LEADS / FOLLOWERS / SAVES] Topics to avoid repeating from last week: [LIST WHAT YOU ALREADY COVERED] Any upcoming deadlines or announcements: [EVENTS, LAUNCHES, PROMOTIONS]
The planner returns a 5-to-7-slot calendar with the topic, format, and CTA for each post. It spaces repetitive content formats and alternates between value posts and conversion posts based on your weekly goal.
Run it once per week, spend 10 minutes reviewing it, and you have your full content plan before Monday morning.
What the 11 Skills Cover
The guide PDF has the full documentation for every skill. For the remaining tools beyond what is covered in this article:
Comment Handler: Paste a comment or comment type into the skill and it returns two to three reply options. Useful for common objections ("what's the price?"), engagement comments ("this is exactly what I needed"), and DM prompts ("I need this, how do I get it?").
Profile Optimizer: Give the skill your current bio, your target audience, and your conversion goal. It rewrites the bio, suggests changes to your link block, and recommends a highlight structure. Run it when your profile traffic is not converting to follows or actions.
Hashtag Research, Story Scripts, Video Hooks, and the remaining tools are in the guide PDF. Each one follows the same input format: give it your niche, goal, and format, and it returns usable output.
What This Skill Does Not Do
It does not post for you. The skill generates content. You review, approve, and post. No direct Instagram integration. The posting step stays in your hands.
It cannot guarantee performance. The virality analyzer identifies patterns that have worked recently. Patterns shift. A hook structure that drove views last month may be saturated in your niche this month. Run the virality analysis weekly, not once at install.
Script output varies with input specificity. Generic niche + generic angle = generic scripts. Specific niche + specific angle = scripts that sound like you.
The web skill session does not persist automatically. If you close the browser window, you need to re-activate the skill in a new session. Claude Code installs persist.
What to Do Today
Install the skill and run the virality analyzer for your niche before your next posting session. You do not have to use the output today. Run the analysis and read the patterns it returns. See whether the patterns match what you have already noticed performing, or whether there is something you have not tried yet.
That first analysis is the fastest diagnosis of what your content strategy is missing.
